CEP: Lecture Summary Instructions:
To receive CEP credit for your lecture summary, please attend to all of the steps listed below:
- You will receive announcements periodically from Dr. Josephine Shih announcing that certain lectures on or off-campus are eligible for CEP credit.
- You are required to attend the lecture and summarize the lecture in your own words (minimum length requirement of 500 words). Your summary must include all of the following:
- Background
- Your name & student ID #
- Course title and number (e.g., PSY 1101, Behavior Modification)
- Professor's Name
- The name of the lecturer.
- The date of the presentation.
- The location of the presentation.
- The title of the presentation.
- Your summary of the lecture
- Statement of the main theme or purpose of the presentation
- The specific hypothesis tested, applicable.
- Summary of the methods used and procedures followed.
- Summary of the results, major points, or findings presented.
- Summary of the major implications of the research.
The summary must be written in your own words, and use quotes when you are quoting the presenter. Academic Honesty Policy for the university is strictly enforced for this assignment. Please note that besides cheating in the conventional way, plagiarism also constitutes a violation of the academic integrity code. Go to www.sju.edu/libraries/drexel/plagiarism/index.htm for an excellent definition and examples of plagiarism. If you cheat or plagiarize on this assignment, you will be penalized 1 CEP credit.
- Background
- Submit the completed summary to TurnItIn.com.
If you have never used TurnItIn.com before:
- Go to TurnItIn.com
- Click on "Create a user profile" (upper right under the login boxes)
- Follow the prompts (e.g., by selecting "student user")
- You must use your SJU email address to register.
- You can create your own password.
- Enter Class ID and enrollment password (see info at the end of this document).
- Click on the class link just created.
- Several "assignments" will pop up. Click on the appropriate assignment (e.g., if it's your first time submitting a CEP lecture summary then click on that assignment, etc.)
- You can submit papers by uploading a MS Word file from your computer. Upload your file.
- For the title of your paper, type in your course #, course name, and professor's name (e.g., PSY 1101, Behavior Modification, Prof. Anderson).
- Click Submit.
- Turnitin.com will send a confirmation receipt to your SJU email address. If you do not receive it, the submission did not go through properly. If you have problems with the submission, make sure you have carefully gone through each of the steps above before contacting the turnitin.com site administrator, Ms. Peggy Allen.
If you already have a user profile at TurnItIn.com:
- Go to TurnItIn.com
- Login with your email address and password
- At personal home page, click join new class (red button, upper left)
- Enter class ID and enrollment password (see info at bottom of this page)
- Click on the class link just created.
- Several "assignments" will pop up. Click on the appropriate assignment (e.g., if it's your first time submitting a CEP lecture summary then click on that assignment, etc.)
- You can submit papers by uploading a MS Word file from your computer. Upload your file.
