Department of Psychology

The Psychology major curriculum was developed based on recommendations of the American Psychological Association and with an eye towards making our students competitive for a variety of career paths. It also allows enough remaining free electives for psychology majors to consider a second major, incorporate a minor area of study, or compete the 5-year BS/MS program in psychology.

The psychology major curriculum requires the following:

Within these requirements, students are asked to balance their psychology education from both the social science-based and natural science-based subfields of psychology. As such, students are required to alternate between natural-science and social-science based courses in the laboratory and research seminar course sequence. And students are asked to complete at least 1 psychology upper-level elective course from natural-science based courses and 1 elective from social-science based courses.
